Subscriptions start at just $9.99 a month for 30 downloads. Very reasonable. Generous 25 bonus ringtone offer with free trial. Those 25 bonus songs are yours to keep for good. Get a free MP3 everyday just for using the eMusic toolbar. 350K+ subscribers.

If you don't mind limiting yourself to the iPod ITunes is what you want. DRM free music is limited. I've experienced this and heard others comment that iTunes is a resource hog.

Music format is in WMA format and DRM so there are more choices for MP3 players. Don't have to use music files with just an Apple iPod.

Napster is great because you can listen to all your favorite music for a monthly fee. You don't have to own the MP3 music track in order to listen to it. The software doesn't slow down your computer like iTunes, more user friendly, and don't need an iPod to listen to music. Update: According to TechCrunch Napster will soon dump their software moving to web only!

Rhapsody has a great user interface. Like Napster to go Rhapsody offers the ability to fill your MP3 player with MP3 music for a monthly fee equivalent to the price of a single CD.

All-you-can-download subscription service with low fees. Watch out with the free 14 day trial offer. Yahoo doesn't charge a monthly fee like the other music download sites, but rather a annual one time payment of $71.88. Yahoo has the best subscription prices at $5.99. Only 2 million songs.

Wal-Mart doesn't sell music with a parental Advisory warning. No subscription-based streaming (rather than downloading entire song) feature to listen to complete songs. Most albums sell for $9.44. Only 600,000 songs, the lowest of all music sites tested.

Best part of Amazon.com is all songs are in MP3 format and are DRM-free, so you can play them in any music program and on any MP3 device, including the iPod. Most albums are between $5.99 and $9.99. One click ordering makes shopping easy.
